I'm leaving...
EuphoricSorry to anyone who was alarmed. I just couldn't resist. I've wanted to scream my news from the rooftops for the last week or so, but I couldn't tell anyone about my good news until I received my official offer letter and let my manager at work know. Nya, Haz-mat, Asher and I are moving!
Yes, that's right. I have a new job. I decided to apply for a position at a hospital in St. Paul, MN (where I'm originally from) on the last day of January. I've had a good time in Milwaukee, but there is no place like home. Six days later I was having a phone interview in my car after work during a blizzard. Why didn't I just stay home that day?! But everything worked out wonderfully and a little over a week later I had my original offer. I negotiated hard and pretty much left nothing on the table. After all that work, how could I say no?
My first day at my new job will be March 21st. Woo hoo! I'll be moving in with my parents for a while so I won't have to stress out about where I'm going to live. My twin sister moved back to Minnesota as well about six months ago and we've been talking about eventually getting a townhome or condo together. I think it sounds awesome, especially since we'll have two very different schedules so there will still be plenty of me time after work. She's been thinking about getting a puppy sometime too, and I bet Nya would love that. Haz-mat and Asher... not so much.
I know I haven't been actively doing anything here for a couple of months. I have started sketching a meerkat pirate that I want to finish sometime in here, but I'm sure you all understand that moving is going to come first. I also have an awesome Colorado ski vacation at the beginning of March that I'm not missing... I'm going to need it! I'll try to get some art out in April. I really am going to try! Promise!

Don't worry, I'll be back and better than ever sometime in here. The nice thing about staying with my parents for a while will be that I'll have some extra hands and eyes for Nya. It's still a little hard to sit down to do art when she wants to play ball in the house. Darn winter... I wish it would end so we can go back to doing long, tiring walks.

Good luck with your move! I guess it's a good thing that Nya's grown up a bit now. I can't imagine having to move with a very young puppy. I wish you well and look forward to seeing you back here on DA when things have settled down.

Nya's about 8 months old now, and she hasn't shown any destructive tendencies since she was about 3.5 months old when her teeth were first coming in. I doubt that she'll have any problems adjusting to living with my parents, Raven (our three legged senior family dog), and me for a few months. I figure she'll follow my parents around and try to sleep with Raven. Then I'll have time to color my wombat and finish sketching my meerkat pirate. GLEE!
